This month’s inspiration comes from an early 19th-century painting entitled: “Portrait of a Woman in a Blue Turban” by French painter Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863). It is not known if this woman is Black, Arab, or both. Unsurprisingly, there is nothing known about this beautiful figure. Some researchers suggest she may have been given the brooch and outfit as props. The secrets she holds are immortalized with her in this portrait.
The sapphire and teal in her turban play gorgeously with the silvery grey. The deep brown with orangey-red undertones creates a rich rust color. This is a great introduction to the chilly season. This month comes with a faux-fur pompom in case you want to make a hat with your yarn.
Your package contains one skein (merino DK/multi-ply yarn, 210m -superwash), one faux-fur pompom, a write-up on the painting and figure, and pattern ideas for both crocheters and knitters.
